Ski Boot Race Fitting

One of our areas of specialty is fitting boots for ski racers, we have invested in a vast selection of tools specifically for this including a high power flexible drive grinder for working on the inside of shells, this tool enables us to create pockets within the thickness of the plastic of the shell, something critical in customising the fit of race boots to the individual skier.

We also have  one of the only [if not the only] bench mounted routers set up for finishing the fitting of boot lifters in the UK, the specialist bit in this tool was produced in the race department of a well known ski boot supplier and is not available to buy.  We have seen people cutting boots with hacksaws and stanley knives trying to get then soles back to DIN standard. if you are going to have lifters fitted, do it properly, this is the only tool to use.

With FIS regulations tightening still further with regards to boot height we have had a specialist measuring device manufactured to our specifications which can measure the internal height of a ski boot to an accuracy of 0.01mm, this way we can make sure any work done on your boots, be it footbeds, lifters, wedges etc. does not get you disqualified the first time you step onto the podium. Many world cup racers have fallen foul of these regulations over the years and we want to ensure that our clients, whatever level they are competing at, do not suffer the same way. click here for the latest FIS regulations in Alpine ski racing.
Our contacts in the world of ski racing keep us up to date with new boot developments and any new techniques that can be used to aid us in comfort and performance improvement.

Ramp angles play an important role in fore / aft balance we have a tool which allows us to measure the ramp angle of boots both individually and when combinding with the ramp [delta] angle of the binding, this enables us to find the optimum position for the skier to maximize performance.

With race boots being produced more widely and sensible flexes of boot available in the so called modified plug shells, young racers can now ski in the performance boots they deserve without the super stiff world cup flexes. Whilst we currently hold  a small number of boots in stock, we can also access race boots from Atomic, Lange and Head should stock be available, otherwise we are only too pleased to work on the boots you currently own or obtain elsewhere.
Work on race boots can take a lot time, so please do not wait till the day before you go on a training camp to call us for an appointment, our quietest times for work on ski boots are over the summer, so why not get sorted before the rush.

Fitness is a big part of ski racing and one of the other major sectors of our business is biomechanical profiling, this test is an MOT for your body, looking at aspects of alignment from the pelvis to the foot and producing a report which includes a workout plan and shoe / orthotic recommendations, see our assessments section for more details.
